Gary Brown

Region VII MRC Regional Liaison

Gary Brown serves as the MRC Regional Liaison for Region VII (IA, KS, MO, NE) for the Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) Program under the Partner Readiness and Emergency Programs Division housed in the Office of Emergency Management (OEM), the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR). He provides technical assistance and support to the existing MRC units in the region and helps people interested in the MRC to start a unit when there is not currently an active MRC in their local community. Gary works closely with individual units to support the mission of OEM and ASPR, coordinate goals with the MRC Program, and advance the U.S. Surgeon General's public health priorities.

Gary has extensive experience in emergency planning, operations, and training. Prior to his current position, Gary served as the MRC National Technical Assistance Coordinator, consulted in emergency management and homeland security, managed the emergency services program for a regional council of governments, and worked in local emergency management. In addition, Gary served in the U.S. Air Force.

Gary received a master’s degree in of public administration from the University of Oklahoma and a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of California, Berkeley.
