Carla Mitchell, M.P.H.
National Technical Assistance Coordinator
Carla Mitchell serves as the National Technical Assistance Coordinator for the Medical Reserve Corps Program under the Partner Readiness and Emergency Programs Division within the Office of Emergency Management (OEM), the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR). In this capacity, Carla oversees national-level technical assistance initiatives and directs the activities of MRC Program’s 10 Regional Liaisons while also supporting the mission of OEM and ASPR. She facilitates communication, coordination, and collaboration between the MRC Regional Liaisons, MRC Program office staff, and national-level program partners. She also provides key support in the development and implementation of many of the MRC Program’s efforts to enhance the development, capacity, and sustainability of MRC units.
Carla was previously the Region III MRC Liaison. She has more than 11 years experience in the public health field. Prior to being a Regional Liaison she worked with HRSA’s National Health Service Corps (NHSC). In this role, she assisted with serving physicians to fulfill the mission of improving the health of the Nation’s underserved communities. Carla’s additional area of interest and experience is in Maternal and Child Health, specifically high-risk pregnancy research and pediatric disease prevention.
Carla received a bachelor’s of science in Health Services Management from the University of Maryland and a master’s of public health from George Washington University. Carla loves to spend time with family and friends, sing, and do anything that will put a smile on her face. Carla believes that it is important to put your heart into everything you do and indulge in each day!
