Carnation-Duvall Medical Reserve Corps ( 453 )

Profile:
The Carnation-Duvall Medical Reserve Corps (CDMRC) is a program organized by the Carnation-Duvall Citizen Corps Council (CDCCC), one of the first Citizen Corps Councils in King County. CDMRC services the mostly rural Snoqualmie River Valley communities of Carnation and Duvall that include approximately 20,000 residents. The CDMRC meets the third Wednesday of each month except December. We are focused on organizing volunteer medical and healthcare-related personnel, assisted by Community Emergency Response Team members and other interested individuals, to prepare for and respond to emergencies in coordination with local fire and police departments, city staffs and Public Health. Throughout the year, we educate residents regarding healthy living and preparedness, thus empowering them to be more independent and secure if cut off from outside medical resources in times of disaster. We teach volunteers to respond first in their own neighborhoods, then, via radio communications if needed, to other coordinated locations; the latter include 5 Field Treatment Centers. Community service rate is 1:200 (100 CDMRC members/20,000 area population).
