Profile: The Eastern Nebraska Medical Reserve Corps volunteers include medical and public health professionals, as well as other community members without healthcare backgrounds. Our MRC unit engages these volunteers to strengthen public health, improve emergency response capabilities and build community resiliency. We prepare for and respond to natural disasters, as well as other emergencies affecting public health, such as disease outbreaks. In addition, our MRC unit is very active in the community providing volunteers for non-emergency events. Annually, we provide volunteers for First Aid stations at 50-60 events. Examples of activities that our MRC volunteers participate in and support include: • Emergency Preparedness and Response Trainings • Health Screenings • Emergency Sheltering with Red Cross • Responder Rehab • Disaster Medical Support • Outreach to Underserved Community Members • Disaster Risk Reduction • Medical Surge Capacity • First Aid During Public Gatherings • Community Event Support • Planning, Logistical, & Administrative Support • Health Education and Promotion We are always excited to grow our organization.
