Why Register?
Be part of a national network
Registering your MRC unit gives you and your volunteers the opportunity to be part
of an active national network devoted to building strong, healthy and prepared communities.
Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) units are frequently recognized for their commitment
to local health and safety. Being registered allows you to join this national network
of
784 MRC units and
194812 volunteers.
Help your community become more resilient
Registration also provides your community with a proven avenue to become more resilient
and better able to withstand incidents requiring public health or medical assistance.
With the MRC, your volunteers will make an on-going difference in your community’s
everyday public health challenges. Serving as ambassadors to the U.S. Surgeon
General provides a way for integrating your efforts with national goals and priorities
-- and also gives the possibility of being recognized by the Surgeon General.
Gain name recognition and establish a profile for your unit
Registration grants national recognition that will have immediate, tangible positive
benefits. Your unit, once registered, may use the Medical Reserve Corps name and
apply for use of the official MRC logo, which will provide legitimacy and national
name recognition as you establish your unit and recruit volunteers. Your MRC
unit will also have its own profile page on the MRC website where you can highlight
your recent activities and provide more information about your unit.
Access regional and national conferences
You will also be able to access information only available to unit leaders through
attending regional and national conferences and joining on state and regional conference
calls to learn about exciting activities and how you may wish to introduce these
into your community.
Become eligible for MRC awards and recognition
Finally, registration will make your MRC unit and your volunteers eligible for the
annual MRC Awards ceremony and other recognition opportunities. Your
unit’s activities may be highlighted in our national publications and reports,
and you may qualify for additional funding for your MRC unit.
